| Mr. Pitts was a founding shareholder in the Newport Beach, California law firm of Winthrop Couchot where he specialized in Chapter 11 reorganizations representing debtors, creditors and asset purchasers and in representing Assignees under California's Assignments for Benefit of Creditors statute. Mr. Pitts was a shareholder with Winthrop Couchot through 2004. Prior to that, he was an associate with Lobel, Winthrop & Broker, a bankruptcy boutique law firm in Irvine, California, from 1990 to 1995.
Currently, Mr. Pitts limits his insolvency practice to the representation of creditors, Assignees, purchasers of assets from of insolvent entities, and principals of debtor entities.
Mr. Pitts is a member of the American Bar Association, American Bankruptcy Institute-Commercial Law and Bankruptcy Section, Orange County Bar Association, Orange County Bankruptcy Forum, Financial Lawyers Conference and the Orange County Barristers. Admitted to the State Bar of California in 1989, Mr. Pitts is a graduate of Arizona State University (BS, 1985) and George Washington University, The National Law Center (JD, 1988) where he served as Business Editor for the Commercial Protection Reporting Service.
